NDA 2019: Admit Card, Exam Date, Exam Pattern, Syllabus, UPSC NDA

NDA or National Defence Academy Exam is a national level exam organized by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) to recruit candidates in Army, Navy and Air Force. It is a two-tier examination, wherein, candidates qualifying the written test will also have to clear the SSB interview round.

NDA 2019 Eligibility criteria

Candidates eligibility for NDA 2019 will be depending upon various parameters. The NDA eligibility criteria 2019 will be slightly different for all defense services. The details about NDA 2019 Eligibility criteria are listed below:


  • As per the nationality standards decided by UPSC for NDA 2019, the candidate must be an Indian Citizen or subject of Bhutan or Nepal or Tibetan refugee who came to India prior to January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India are also eligible to apply.
  • A PIO (Person of Indian Origin) who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Zaire, Malawi, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the purpose to get settled down permanently in India may also apply for the exam.

Age Limit

  • Candidates, who have born in between 2nd July 2000 to 1st July 2003, are eligible for apply for NDA (1) exam.
  • For NDA 2, applicants should have born in between 2nd January 2001 to 1st July 2004.

Gender & Marital criteria

  • Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply for NDA.
  • Applicants must assume not to marry until they finish their complete training.

Educational qualification

For Army Wing: Passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from any recognized board.

  • For Air Force & Naval wings of NDA and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy:
  • Must be completed 10+2 or equivalent examination with physics and mathematics subjects.
  • Appearing candidates are also eligible to apply.

Application Fee

Candidates belonging to general category have to pay Rs. 100/ as necessary application fee. The payment can be made through debit/credit card and SBI net banking. Candidates can also remit fee through challan of SBI bank. There will be no fee for candidates belonging to SC/ST category/ Sons of JCOs, NCOs & Ors.
