Example 9 : The work capacity of A is 60% more than the work capacity of B. A Alone can do this work in 80 days, so how long B alone will this work ?

  • Start same as previous examples then it is Efficiency based problem. In this problem first we find ratio of the Efficiency of A and B
  • A : B = 160 : 100 = 8 : 5
  • Write their efficiency, A can do 8 works in a day so in 80 days he will do 640 (total work) or you can remember when go upward multiply and when come downward divide.
  • For B we go downward so 640/5= 128 days

Example 9

Example 10: The work capacity of A is 25% less than the work capacity of B, and the work capacity of B is 20% more than the work capacity of C. Together, the three can finish this task in 36 days, so how long B will do this work alone ?

  • Start same as previous examples then it is Efficiency based problem. In this problem first we find ratio of the Efficiency of A and B
  • A : B = 75 : 100 = 3 : 4
  • B : C = 120 : 100 = 6 : 5

Example 10

  • So A,B and C can do 31 work in a day, they work for 36 days so total work done by them is = 31x36. We will write total work on top and for finding work done by B alone we simply divide total work by one day work of B ie: 12.
