Types of Imperative Sentence and Examples

These types of sentences are used to give instruction, advice, expresses a command, an order, a direction, or a request. These are also known as a jussive or a directive sentence. Such sentence may end with an exclamation mark or a period. These are usually simple and short, but could be long and complex, depending upon its context.

Types of Imperative Sentences:

Share a Wish or Request – Such sentence shares polite wishes and requests with someone. e.g.: Have a great day.

Offer an Invitation – Such sentence extends an invitation. e.g.: Please join with us for a party tonight.

Share a Command/Request – Such type of sentence gives a command or shares a request, e.g.: Stop beating the horse!

Give Instructions – Such type of sentence gives instructions in form of order, e.g.: Come here, Check these papers, and Give me your point of view.
